desert hearts mention! also crazy TW incest and CSA very not awesomely but i’m still reading for the good parts

“their sexual practices range from vanilla to rum raisin to heath bar crunch”

i love this

absolutely unhinged. 3.75

“few disabled people have just one disability. that’s important to note because most studies about disability want you to have just one- which means most studies about disability do not record our data with any fidelity.”

“ableism is more than just bias: it’s the entire idea that anything can or should be perfect in this universe of entropy and chaos, applied at the level of human bodies and ways of being”

“you can tell them i’m neither alive nor dead.”
“what are you?” he asks.
“I’m a meat-shaped holding pattern.”

hiker going up
meets hiker coming down-
each with a dog

:) made me smile

the description of the pre-seder scene and chaos felt so familiar

“It never failed to amaze me, in a fond, quiet way, how boys could touch and fuck a transsexual body, and then stammer their way through any implication of how that body got there.”

i’ve mostly been enjoying this so far but i’m never ever wanting to read violent gay bashing scenes, realistic as they might be. not saying it’s badly done necessarily i might just be the wrong audience but i had to skip that
