Okay getting interesting. I should be done soon. I really empathize with the narrator as she tries to convince the people in her life to believe her and sense a kind of spiral. I enjoy all of the domestic episodes showing a window into her family's life and the moments of self-reflection.

Interesting to see how the digital hunt for terrorists is like a shadow hanging over the author's personal and domestic life. The obsession reminds me of the ZODIAC film and how people can fixate on puzzles. The home front is very well done and personal. The author's struggles with depression and anxiety as well are very relatable and humanizing.

So far I love the quippy, humorous POV of the MC, Dan. He's very likable and endearing.

Very interesting setting (post WWIII NYC). I like how the tech is blended into this world, but it still feels very rooted (it seems that the only way to get housing reform and for regular young people to afford renting a brownstone is for a massive war to kill off a huge amount of the population).

What I really like so far:
memoirs and confessionals naturally draw readers in so I'm hinging on each word and reading fast
the author is very good at characterizing the people in her book: her family members all feel so real and relatable. It's quintessential earthy working class America.

Very interesting setting (post WWIII NYC, after a war with aliens). I like how the tech is blended into this world, but it still feels very rooted (it seems that the only way to get housing reform and for regular young people to afford renting a brownstone is for aliens to invade and kill off a huge amount of the population).
