I don't want to believe this because I'm obsessed with every other book by Carissa Broadbent, but this one is rough so far. I normally finish a book in 1-2 days, and I've been coming back and forth to this one for 5 days, only at 20%. Hoping it blows my mind when I'm done.

This is 100% the best book in the series. It's had some gut wrenching moments, but it's written so well.

OMG. Stop EVERYTHING and read this book as soon as it comes out. Don't add to your TBR. Just start it immediately. 😭🥹❤️

The story is honestly still interesting, but there's so much repetition and unnecessary content that it's distracting... Why do the characters keep saying things like, "with my advanced fae hearing" and such?! I KNOW YOU ARE FAE. It doesn't feel well edited.

She has a slooow start, and has a YA type feel to the writing, explaining a lot so far, instead of showing and revealing. Intriguing plot though...

Stunning! This is the kind of writing skill I yearn for and find so rarely.

I am going to have to read her other books too. This woman's writing is just beautiful.

I had to put it down. The writing is so not my vibe. It reads like a constant summary of a story without just telling the story and letting information come out organically.

I'm not far enough to say anything about the story, but man is it refreshing to see this quality of excellence in writing skill 👌🏾✨

This world is so painfully brutal

Ooof, this is a WHOLE lot of telling... It almost has the quality of a children's story so far. Maybe the overstuffing of information will calm down as the plot gets to plotting.

I actually wish this last third of the book had been closer to the beginning

Ok, it definitely gets better. I've been busy or I would be done by now but the few moments I have to read I'm eager to pick it up and see what happens next.

The pace is so fast. Reminds me a little of the Scared Stones trilogy where I just kept wondering, why exactly did that need to be included?

So far this has some D&D vibes 🤔. I'm enjoying the dynamic between the characters though, it starts off strong with found family.

I feel like this isn't talked about enough. It's so interesting!

So far the writing and relationship are still quality, but I'm wondering where the action is, considering it's a sequel.
