This is so ridiculously good, so hilarious, so fun. Halfway through one book and I’m convinced Terry Pratchett deserved that knighthood. I should never have started this, I opened the door to the other 40 Discworld books and this might become my whimsical Horus Heresy

I can feel that this is approaching the edge of a cliff where everything will kick off but god is this book long. I’m liking it a lot but these 1800’s serialized books are… verbose

My favorite part of this book so far is that if I described the plot hook as “haters and the losers plot against a white boy because he has a little motion” a 19th century classic literature professor would have to grit his teeth and agree with me

Judgmental update: before starting this I heard multiple people saying how difficult it was to keep the character POV‘s straight. I’m convinced that those people have the reading comprehension of a goldfish. Now that I’m overconfident, I am prepared to immediately be humbled whenever I start Malazan

I’m not used to short books I can’t believe I’m halfway done I feel like I’m at the end of the intro to this story. Very curious how this will all wrap up

Almost gave up on this around the 15% mark but it’s grown on me as the time jumps in the story grow larger

Every day I try to explain what this book is about to my girlfriend and I sound like a schizophrenic

“Ok so theres these space lesbians who paint their faces like skeletons”

“Imagine the main character is in an escape room but trying to gnaw through the drywall is her most logical strategy”

“All of the characters names were chosen like the author covered a dartboard in letters and put on a blindfold”

Loving this so far. However every woman in this book is having the worst time ever 24/7

I wish this wasn’t so much of a chore to get though I wanted to love this. I don’t know if it’s just the translation but this prose is rough. So many people repeating the same shit over and over again in every tediously long dialogue. Part of me keeps feeling like I must be missing something but at the same time everything seems constantly over explained

I’m not sure if this is the point but so far I hate the protagonist Raskolnikov. As much as I hate the simplicity of the ol’ “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” idea jesus christ is this kid a loser. He’s like an 19th century incel

Like true detective season 1 but with homophobic alcoholics

“The Dog and the Dragon” is a top 5 Stormlight chapter

I don’t think Sanderson is “my” author. This book is good. I think Words of Radiance is legitimately excellent. But the series hasn’t been quite the same for me since. I know for a fact that the last 10% of this book is going to be a blast. But I find myself pushing my way through the first 90%. Again it’s “good” but there’s just so much I don’t love about the way Sando writes

I think listening to the first 4 books back to back was a bit too much, after a little break I can once again confirm that this shit rules

Great so far, I started this after looking for recommendations to scratch the Joe Abercrombie itch. The writing is super witty, I’ve laughed out loud a few times already

I’m loving renaissance-era Ocean’s 11 so far, I’m a sucker for heists make them as complex as possible. Honestly was a tiny bit bummed at the first introduction of magic into a world that I was already loving but it seems pretty minimal. This book rules so far
