i blame davis for changing my perception of media. I enjoy things differently now. I noticed it changed but i was unsure of what changed it. I think i understand what changed it, though.

there's so much sex. like not literally, but every character mentions sex or sexual appeal once per chapter. Not in a tasteful way either, but just as an offhand or even a key character trait for some characters

it's so strange to read a book that I know I would have loved when I was younger. I appreciate still, but on a more meta level, I suppose.

i was very skeptical of the epistolary style combined with the poetic prose and the high sci-fi, but it all comes together so well. the letters are so heartfelt, a paradise of emotion when neither protagonists are supposed to feel much of any.

Meyer is no Brontë, but the descriptions of love suffice. it's cute. now i really want to read something older though just because i like the way that the romantics can be so roundabout and so expressive. while meyer is just like "you are the most important thing to me now. to me ever" one of the brontës is like "his soul and mine are made out of the same material" like there's just something so beautiful in that.
