I've only had Dany for 10 minutes but I think she should be allowed to kill every man with a machine gun

Nearly 40% in and it still feels like I'm pushing through out of pure spite

I'm finding it much more entertaining to read along the audiobook, but I'm still finding myself more disappointed than not in some writing choices. 11 chapters in, and except for maybe the priest, the MCs still feel very flat.

I really want to like this, but so far it's been hard to get invested. I don't really care for the characters yet, the dynamic between the MCs is tropey and predictable, the pacing is slow even in the action scenes, and the horror has done nothing for me. I think I actually preferred it when it was about the plague rather than armageddon beasts. I'll try to read at least until 50% before making a decision though

The themes and tragedy are wrapping up so well, and I've grown to like the midway twist. However, the Bishop is still such a frustratingly flat and mustache-twirling villain, it's exhausting and predictable. It'd have been better if we didn't get his POV at all. Still, I'm really invested in Aley's story.

I've reached the midpoint twist, and I must say I'm not too pleased with the direction the story seems to be taking. Maybe I missed some important foreshadowing. But we'll see how the plot points resolve.

Was not expecting this book to be so engaging, charming and fun so early on.

Really enjoying it so far, and it's fun to see all the little ways in which the stories are connected with each other through the centuries. Sadly it does suffer of the usual problem these interwoven multi-protagonist narratives have, which is that one POV is infinitely more interesting than the others, so when it switches it can be a bit frustrating.
