It’s always said that the midpoint of a book is the lowest moment for the characters and the plot, where it’s truly rock bottom. A lot of the time I see books’ midpoints as still fixable or not that bad, and wonder why it’s still a heavily enforced writing device. I sometimes wonder ”how bad can it really get?” as I’m reading before I get there. I see now. Holy hell.
