not reaaaally getting the hype so far but if I were to praise this book for something it'd be the unique way in which the characters are written. I could read about them and their antics for hours and not once get bored. Zara in particular here is so fascinating oml

a lot of interesting narrative decisions so far. Yes this one surprisingly is not like the mgs2 novelization in the sense that it DOES alter some story elements. So we're told from the get-go that someone broke into kaz's home?? And that naomi's a double agent?? Idk how to feel about this. These were meant to be major plot twists. There's no element of surprise anymore if we already know this stuff

HOORAY SHE/HER PRONOUNS FOR DOCTOR CLARK!!!!! very happy about this since I didn't know how many games the author had played before writing the book, I have to admit I was anxious when I read the name "dr. clark" because the character in question is only mentioned a FEW times (very vaguely too) and it's only around mgs4 that you find out she's paramedic. At least this dude played the games and knows his shit

speeding through this like snorting lines because holy shit do hyperfixations impact your ability to consume media. I think rose is arguably less insufferable in the book (probably because not ALL codec conversations are featured) and that's a breath of fresh air. Yes this is practically a one-to-one retelling of the game that also makes use of the game script but I could NOT be bothered I just love mgs
