Good, fine, lovely book... But lacking in resonance for me; character and world. I do enjoy the morse codes, puzzles, friendship... But it also feels a bit painfully slow! And falls flat. It doesn't pull on my heart strings the way some other books do- It's definitely much more simplistic and less fantastical. And nothing of the sequence and well generally really did impress or amaze me 🤔

A remark alas comes to mind;
"Ew."

Basically what I'm seeing is a shallow plot veiled by (very) dramatic declamations XD

"Tut, I have lost myself. I am not here.
This is not Romeo. He’s some other where. "

This is just kinda cool and funny at the same time-

"Alas, that love, so gentle in his view,
Should be so tyrannous and rough in proof!"

Pleasurable prose yet rather surface level, stuffy, and bland thus far... The language really stands out, and is really interesting, though :D

2. This book was getting kind of... Boring! During one point- Until Jack did something heroic indeed. I relate to Jack so much! Definitely stealing him for future future novel ;))))

195 / 313 pages

That was… Deeply disturbing to say the least (referring to the mermaid tale). What terrifying stories! Something of its magic seems to falter a bit in this book, compared to a Tale Dark and Grimm. But still, the fairytales are immaculate and it’s just my cup of tea :)

Unfortunately, I shall have to pause right here :) Perhaps someday I can return to this! It was a bit disappointing, but not in the sense that it wasn’t well written. I just believe it’s not my cup of tea at the moment- Let’s venture to other adventures alike!

Seems to me like Levine’s books are rich in splendor. However this time, it quite fades with time as it seems particularly outdated — not in the topic but with the staggering execution; interesting but ultimately lacking in the depth I crave for, instead maintains a bland and vapid.

I love her kindness, yet Aza’s personality is seemingly bland. Not to mention the rather slow pace the book is going at. A common thing in vintage toned books, and a common “failing” if it is to be regarded as one-before the flutters of anticipation and the scurry of careful layout. Yet ultimately dimming the spotlight, of which we can truly immerse ourselves and enjoy the book to a full extent. Still nice :))

(Also I’m the worlds biggest scaredy cat but I’m not scared of this one, at least not very scared! Probably due to the lack of description and the storybook styled story)

I can’t believe how I’m enjoying this! In this unsettling fairytale children’s book of a way :0 Perfect Halloween read for me!

Hehe perhaps I may had overestimated the situation and turns out we'll just keep reading. Marissa Meyer can keep us on the edge of our seats! But it still feels somehow hollow. It does seem packed with action though, so there's nothing we can do to meditate but keep on reading! But it's not bad, really- :)

The plot definitely gets me turning the pages but it's as if I've lost the connection to the characters! Hopefully it's because I've taken such a big break, not something wrong with the book entirely. But then, that would make a terrible, unreliable review, haha- I like Winter but it’s getting ever-so complexed when all I want is the simple, whimsical story that book 1 gives us... Break again? 🥲

Levana is so driven by emotions! I love how Marissa describes her - so accurately as a villain too. This is so tense right now and we're only a third through the book :0 Really engaging again, but perhaps not the best work? Marissa is still AMAZING though, no question. Hopefully I don't have to be stuck in a sorta-slump again, with the insane amount of context / plot, and severe lack of time...! Fingers crossed :)

Back on track! Let's see if this works...

What a quaint little book. This book is JUST wonderfully written. I can tell even now, and I hope it remains the same. Thankfully the build up is promising thus far :)

I am feeling so much emotions. Especially to Ralph and Simon. Honestly for every boy. I feel just terrible for them, they each had their own special, perfect little lives. The situation is miserable, and I am truly lucky this is fiction (1st time XD)

This book would be out of this world FANTASTIC... If it was a happy book!

But with stoicism in hand (and a promise for one day in the other), I guess all I have to say is the prose is truly beautiful and makes me just so happy!!

WOW! Finished reading about Taylor's childhood with a page full of quotes :) She'll always be just so inspirational to me, but of course my journey ends here (in this book)! The rest is history and I did get what I needed. Woohoo, a cheer - to the passionate and unique ones :)

Oh come on 🥲 Writing is beautiful, character development immaculate- But is there no positive outlook on society and the world?

- Analyzing perhaps a tad too deep into this. This is a spectacular book, and surprise comes from the lack of books like this (especially as it can be better). Well, of course, from what I've seen and believe :) Truly, I think we should mark up the disagreements and the unbelievably - the point of all this. Whatever else can be regarded as mere futile, long after the pleasure of it all and the truths stuck with us -
