meta and satirical take on death, morality, and the “inevitable”. honestly meh, writing style was awkward to me and the storyline felt disjointed

Stag Dance was so original from the story to the characters to the use of language.

there isn’t much substance in the main character but I think that’s part of the point. I enjoyed the casualness and mundanity of the dialogue between characters. A little surprised that this won a booker prize

wasn’t 100% sold after a few pages but this story quickly grew on me in unexpected ways. MAJOR character love across the board (esp. Harlen). A beautiful vignette of family and friendship and community and shared history. Great read!!!!
