really spent longer in that chapter talking about china than about mckinsey

forcing myself to finish and how are there still five whole chapters left

considering a DNF. characters all seem like they're playing exaggerated versions of themselves, and I'm trying to stick through in the hopes it gets better, but it's really not. writing feels dumbed down.

also, author is terrible at writing queer characters (ends up stereotyping many of them to being his idea of "terminally online easily offended hippie"), and many of the women are shrill and brainless.

not sure how to describe it but it's a little jarring to adjust from the books I've been reading to the voice this book has (very common in modern popular non-fantasy fiction) - very casual/quippy (veering into marvel movie territory)

went back to read Brandon Sandersons first book and I think his writing style was definitely far more refined by the time he started the stormlight archives. early prediction is a low 4 star

I think I've been using goodreads wrong somehow since it said I read Zero books in 2025

is this book a comedy?? the beginning is so fun and the characters are silly in a good way and their friendship feels organic unfortunately I know what is to come
