the adrenalin rush i got from finding that out made me want to scream

the disclaimer about jenna’s husband that the editor gave in the beginning is making this part so truly complicated. a hopeless undertone sinks into the hopeful parts :(

basically this is so incredibly hard to stomach like the depictions of sexual abuse by her father and his friend is like making me want to throw up!! not the book to start without a different book as a back up to go to when this gets too rough. just so vivid that i genuinely can’t deal with it

i might need to read more books involving people’s experiences with eating disorders…. “having been obsessed with maintaining control i’d now lost it” excuse me i literally stopped in my tracks to pause this audiobook and replay this line in my head. never heard an eating disorder described so poetic yet real. the lump in my throat huge rn

wait a second... this book is about s*xual abuse in the family and how it rips lives apart and haunts people into adulthood even if you weren't abused and it was actually your sibling.... urm.... this low-key striking a chord with me like... idk. at least she had certainty that this event happened. idk I just have my hunches and family secrets. but secrets are secrets all the same I'm sure she wishes she didn't know
