Most unrealistic part of this book is two men figuring out what happened before any of the women collectively have a "hey why are we all pregnant?" discussion and comparing their last period dates. You think the lads are figuring it out first? Okay.

Edwina is genuinely the most annoying character in this only because unlike Gerald she's probably not going to get put in her place for being a turd. I cannot stand when a child character is deliberately written to be a nuisance. I hope she does take after Adele lol

Oh my god Vimes is literally just in Pride and Prejudice including an Omnian Mr Collins this is even better than the time he wandered into a Chekov play

This is probably the single most *English* Discworld novel I've read, at least for the first 60+ pages, which is saying something since the Witches live in Lancashire and Tiffany lives in the South Downs. We got an Austen joke where the Bennet girls are sextuplets. We've got Ham-on-Rye, we've got the the church of All Saints and Three Sinners. It's superb. All the names are impeccable.

Their age-gap means he was THIRTY at that point NOOOO.

Oh okay, I get it. It's kind of a technical marvel to put the plot where the main character doesn't notice it, but it is, ironically for the themes of the novel, self-defeating on Austen's part.

Am I insane?? Why is this so unbelievably boring?? What was Austen doing??

I honestly don't know if I can keep going. Between the dialect writing and the man who thinks he's a Marxist but is too good to accept state support, this is all a bit insufferable.
