💎 "I don’t want you to fix everything for me. You’re not my keeper. I don’t belong to you.” “You think you belong to me?” he asks incredulously. “Is that a joke? I belong to you. I lied to one of my best friends for weeks, for you. I was—I still am on board with you figuring this situation out on your own, and I told you I’ll be there to help as much or as little as you want. I would do anything for you.”

📸 “Do you think it gets easier over time?” She shook her head sadly. “I don’t think it does. After all, grief is just love without a place to go.”

💎 "I used to think love was like a ladder. . . something to achieve when you reached the precipice. From a birds-eye view, I always thought Ian was better than me, so being with him meant I was better too. Like if someone like him loved me, I’d go up another rung. This is so funny cause why did the author use the slang meaning of "clock" in here:

🔎 "I clocked his expensive-looking pin-striped suit and fancy watch."
🔎 "I clock the cement countertops, the copper cabinet handles, the stone floor."

They story is pretty good so far though!

🎻 "Music lets people know they're not alone. In happiness and grief. In anger and loneliness. In ecstasy and exile. It was always there. A constant friend."

🎻 "Why are young people so stupid? Especially when it comes to love?" "Maybe it's because we're still naive enough to think we can protect ourselves from getting our hearts broken. Even though, love really is the only thing worth living for."

💌"At what point . . . does something become unfixable? At what point is a tapestry riddled with so many holes and loose threads that it’s impossible to patch it up again? That it deserves to be thrown away instead?"

I’ve been meaning to read something by Ann Liang, and I’m finally starting—curious to see what her stories are like 🤔
