The protagonist walks on carpet for the first time. This book reveals to us the simple little pleasures of life that we often overlook and take for normalcy.

“I must be lacking in certain experiences that make a person human.”

“They’d wanted something all their lives, but now they had it, they didn’t recognize it. Perhaps, when someone has experienced a day-to-day life that makes sense, they can never become accustomed to strangeness. That is something that I, who have only experienced absurdity, can only suppose.”

“We had our own time, which had nothing in common with that of those who kept us locked up; we’d rediscovered the quality of being human.”

Intriguing. I recognize the deep contemplation of this book.

Ohhh I get it now. Kei is the abandoned choice by his mother. It should not have taken this long for that to sink in. I blame that not on my stupidity, but rather on the lack on clear working and capacity to actually explain what is happening without jump cutting every other page.

Chat, we have completely lost the plot. What I think was supposed to be the main plot twist (the fact that I have to even speculate about the plot twist which should be apparent is already concerning) makes no sense. Is Kei Takada Izumi’s son? Like what does it even mean that Kei is the lost choice? While the original idea for this book is moldy intriguing, the execution of this book is terrible.

I am so annoyed right now. This chapter has left off with a supposed “cliff hanger” but it doesn’t even make me curious, it makes me angry. Then it jumps cuts to 21 freaking years ago?!?! Like, the suspense is not suspenseful because I have no idea what the book is even rambling on about in the first place.

Lowkey I feel nothing for this story. They finally found her father but why was it so anticlimactic…

I hate how many jump cuts there are. It’s such a cop out an excuse ti now actually write and think about meaningful transitions.

This is not very good. The characters feel very flat and I have no idea where the story is even going. And that’s not a good thing in this case. Honestly, I’m just determined to finish this.

The different worldly elements are cool, but the pacing is entirely off and the character relationships don’t feel real.

Ok why they already fighting lol? The way it is written, it sounds like they just met max like two hours ago. Still an interesting story, but the timing doesn’t feel natural.

Interesting story so far. There’s a bit of disconnect between the characters having just met and Kei already lowkey falling in love with her. Hana might not be my ideal female character lead, but this is still an interesting plot line and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Wow. This is riveting. I bet Victor and Eli both die in the end.

I like this new rag-tag team. Marcella, June, and Jonathan. Starting to feel like the original Bictor, Syd, Mitch, Dol, Dom team.

Glad and also disturbed that we were able to learn more about Eli’s past. It makes me empathize with him more. Hated him first book, still do, but I understand him better now. He suffered a lot, no wonder he’s psychotic. This definitely helps develop the overall “everyone is good and evil” message.

First 5 star all year.
