Protagonist is utterly delusional about her capabilities. Her sister has been in active duty for like 5 fucking years alr why is she so goddam scared and why is she so goddam convinced she can bloody help in any way?? I don’t like this writing because Vi faces no punishment for her entitlement and everyone else just puts up with it because the two leaders of the squad wanna fuck her…

Now that they’ve kissed I’m enjoying their romance more - seems like mostly the setup annoyed me.

Also, main character is always described as smart but would like it if her wits were displayed better

Lust uncompelling,
Could’ve been good if she didn’t want to fuck him straight away

Elio’s lusting is astounding and makes good example of how this sort of obsession, can lead one to both knowingly and unknowingly have their emotions/perceptions dictate of the any whim of someone else - being pulled between the self aware and egoless. Egoless in the sense that elio’s entire being is dictated by Oliver’s.

I also enjoy the great comparison between Jewish identity and queer identity

Loving book so far, enjoying the melancholic themes. Each story is relatively mundane but this lends well to a certain surreal flavour - with very little context we are thrust into someone’s where they encounter something they can’t quite fully explain. We the readers are left to ponder and psychoanalysis, for it is as if the protagonists are experiencing life half awake. Absolutely awesome.
