something about the switch up between these two chapters… such peak McMurtry. there is so much resilience and determination in these characters, wisdom that comes with age and through suffering… and nonetheless it doesn’t matter who you are or how much resilience or wisdom you have because it can all be gone in an instant

how did we have the mcs boinking 10 pages ago and now we’re using the words dummy and butt

that was the stupidest manufactured tension I have ever read in my life
