“If the police officer had just done his bloody job, he would have found that the suspicious character was indeed suspicious, with priors in the system”…reading this book is like listening to every true crime podcast.

Definitely adds to the believability of the story, but also makes you what to bang your head against a hard surface in frustration

The second hand embarrassment and cringe I experienced, so far, makes this a must read. I have muttered,”no, no, no, no, just bloody stop” while reading so much that it’s like I’m actually witnessing a drunk aunt or uncle at a wedding.

“No one gasses himself on my property[…] We are not licensed[…] We’re not licensed for suicides around here. This place halal. Kosher, understand? If you’re going to die round here, my friend, I’m afraid you’ve got to be thoroughly bled first.” Bahahaha

This story is so intriguing. On one side you’re just happy to live life, with the characters, in the present, and on the other there’s a niggling feeling in the back of your mind searching to explain the underlying supernatural.

Did I get the Libby audiobook to help with the names? Yes. Does my ‘Essential Legends Collection’ paperback version match up with the audio at all? NO! At least I now know how to pronounce C’baoth…

Does this book need to be 600 pages long? I’m sadly starting to think not…
