Sirsha explains to Quil, Arelia, and Sufiyan that Sufiyan’s father contracted her to assassinate someone. She puts on Jebuni robes and they put on an act with the Ankanese sailors.

Cero helps Aiz escape. An Ankanese ship takes her, and she’s reluctant but Cero insists this is the best way to survive.

Sirsha tries to escape on a boat, her eyes go white while the sea speaks to her, a rare thing. She’s trying to get on a boat to escape, lying she’s a sailor and Quil and she recognizes Sufiyan.

Aiz gets interrogated. There is a seige on the place for Quil. His aunt Hel sends him off with a custom scim, for protection so he can survive to take the throne, despite his reservations.

In the Tohr, Aiz and Mother Div are put into a cell will children. Their parents were snipes and died in the prison. The guards make a show of taking all the clerics for questioning and beating them, then bringing them back. Div tells Aiz to tell her stories, to keep moral up. A week later, Aiz is taken by the guards for questioning.

Sirsha tracks a client’s target, a killer. She recognizes they’re female and headed south, due to her ability.

Quil confronts Aunt Helene about the children getting killed and she admits she needed him in the masks to protect him from that. At the ball that night, Quil discovers not only is Hel putting him on the throne like she said she would, he’s also engaged.

Cero helps her escape with Tiral’s book. She is caught & brought before the Trisrch, who blames her, the clerics & orphans. She is sent to the Tohr for questioning, and the orphans are conscripted. The clerics questioned.

Shirsha is a tracker for a gem dealer who’s a bit corrupt. She’s saving to escape the empire, but her dealer, Migvah, tries to rob her and kill her, but ends up spelling her own death. Shirsha survives only to get offered a job by a mysterious man.

Quil is the prince who serves in the masks. There’s a lot of deaths they are keeping secret. Bani, who is like a goddess, confronts him after ordering him to run in his kind to avoid an assassination attempt that strikes a 13-yo boy. He asks about the deaths, Bani is cryptic.

Aiz was sorted from the burnt-down orphanage to the flight squadron. The boy she slept with, Cero, was too, but he’s in pilot training. Aiz is a snipe, the lowest, a cleaner who handles Loa, the Liquid Metal to fly with, and she’s also a bed servant to Tiral, a nepobaby, whom she tries to kill.

Quint gets what’s coming to him in a bar bathroom.

Corbin what’s on the human disguise to take her out to dinner and then invite her to the Underland afterwards

Corbin comes again to her home & she asks questions about who and what he is, he’s evasive on some. Yes, he fucked her grandmother and Rosaline. She starts a game of hide and seek with him. She climbs out of a room and he chases her down.

Quint is persistent in apologizing to her, inviting her out to a party. She continues to read Rosaline’s diary and Corbin is named. He wanted mins, body & soul to take her to his Unaworl. But she hasn’t committed in the diary.

Lots of smutty games

She goes home in tears and Corbin finds her. Spicy time ensues.

Sorcha is not making it up m. She goes home and gets an extra bottle of wine to entertain herself for the night.

While she’s enjoying a glass of wine and reading in town, she sees Quint come in with a guy named Jeremy who pointed out her moth tattoo earlier in the book. She hears them talking about her like she’d a piece of ass, and Quint writes her off as crazy. She makes her presence known and walks out. He chases her down and begs for her to go to a party with him to make it up, she refuses. She shows him her injuries.

She finds a buried diary in the backyard while burying a bird. It’s Rosaline’s and she encountered the beautiful man too, whom we know is Corbin.

The games continue

Corbin sneaks into hr house and past Quint, and she wakes up to him in the bed with her. He makes her play a game where if she opens her eyes, he kills Quint. It’s not fair, but she’s enjoying it.

In the morning, Sorcha calls the cops when Quint comes over. The cops don’t find anything, but she invites Quint, against the rules, to stay. Corbin finds out and enters the house while she’s sleeping and starts foreplay.

That night while she’s getting turned on by a horror movie, the doorbell rings. It’s a man who she knows has been watching her. He offers her a chain necklace that was meant for Maxine, and he’s Rosalyn’s vampire.

She finds out the story of the original builders in the 1800’s and how the wife killed the husband. quint, the guy she met, tells her to get rid of the house ASAP and the tells her that Mackey was weird about it, loves it one minute, but your head off ab it next. There’s talk of a weird vampire man who was seen with her too.

She spent the day in town and meet a guy over lunch. She plays hard to get and doesn’t give him her information. She has not told her family about inheriting the house and that she’s going to be here. Later that night she wakes up to death head Hamo under the sheets covering the mirrors. There’s 7 of them, scaring her. In the morning they’re gone.

Corbin, who has been stalking this Glamis Manor for years, gives his account of stalking Maxine, and now discovering she’s got a granddaughter inheriting the manor. Her “rules” never kept him out.
