Jude's life continues to get worse and worse. This is by far the most devastating novel I have ever read.

Another chapter completed! I am obsessed with this novel.

Not a very big update, but I managed to read one chapter this morning! I am enjoying the novel dearly and am expecting a plot twist soon.

I must say, the dialogue can be troubling to follow, but I think I am getting the hang of it.

Not a very big update, but I have finally finished part one of the novel! The more I read, the more intriguing the story becomes. While my hope builds alongside Jude's for his future, I can't help but feel that this is not the end of his string of sorrows.

The more I read, the more I feel sorry for Jude. It seems he was born never standing a chance. Jude Fawley was dealt a bad hand of cards, with no idea on how to play them.

As someone who is simply just enamored with gothic fiction, I knew that I would thoroughly enjoy this novel. Alas, I was right!

Compared to my last required reading, Waverley by Sir Walter Scott, this novel is a breath of fresh air.

While I do fear the unfinished ending, it makes me even more eager and excited to read it!

An unusual beginning! Only time will tell if I love this novel dearly or despise it with every fiber of my being.

I must say, Dickens' writing is very reminiscent of Thomas De Quincey's opium-driven stories. However, De Quincey's was mostly babble and all over the place.

At least Dickens seems to have an idea--not the most profound, but an idea at the most!

I have unfortunately grown to dislike this novel. Such a shame considering it is entertaining. I am simply just too impatient for the pace of the storytelling.

My term paper is based on this novel. I have having such a difficult time reading it though. However, the characters and plot is interesting.

Compared to my last read, Joseph Andrews, I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel! The writing, in my opinion, has evolved immensely. I have always had a knack for Sir Walter Scott though.

Davie Do-Little is such a whimsical, free-spirited character. I too aspire to dress in fancy clothes and spend my days dancing around the village as their designated fool.

Fairly good so far. The writing is a little verbose but I am enjoying the whimsical/romantic nature of the novel.

I am so ready to finish this book.

Her writing is so personal. This book is a breath of fresh air compared to many novels being published now.

I can no longer read this in public. Michelle has made me cry. Why Michelle? Why?

I have grown to despise this novel. Joseph Andrews is a phony, and I wish the worst for him and his ridiculously named friends.

The only thing I have learned from this novel is potential insults to use in the future. Everyone better watch out; I'm going to start throwing "vile trollop" around like Oprah did with those cars.
