I have grown to despise this novel. Joseph Andrews is a phony, and I wish the worst for him and his ridiculously named friends.

The only thing I have learned from this novel is potential insults to use in the future. Everyone better watch out; I'm going to start throwing "vile trollop" around like Oprah did with those cars.

Michelle Obama is so tuff.

Where is Michelle? Someone needs to find Michelle for me. I want to meet her. I want to shake her hand. I love Michelle.

Reading her biography while on the clock...It's what Michelle would have wanted.

This book is teaching me that I’m not hating as much as I should be.

“I would rather be tried before some judges than be a Prosecutor for him; If I had an Estate in the Neighbourhood, I would sell it for half the Value, rather than live near him.”

“For she would rather stay in that place to all Eternity, than ride with a naked Man.”

Fairly good. A little slow to start, but I’m sure it’ll pick up soon.

Not only is Michelle’s writing spectacular, but it is admirable. Her writing takes ahold of you—daring you to continue and keep reading.

Often times, many writers seem disconnected from their work. In Michelle’s, that is not the case whatsoever. I can hear and practically feel all the emotions that she engraved into this novel.

A beautiful and captivating story. I expected nothing less from her!

While I did begin reading it this morning, I must say that I am already enthralled by Michelle's story. I plan to write my first (published) book review on this novel and intend to give it a sparkling review!

Her story is intriguing, and her perspective is admirable. Although I am only in the beginning, I could see this book BECOMING a personal favorite! (Pun intended. I'm sorry, I'll show myself out.)

The ending is a little slow. I am reading like three other books at the moment so that could be it. However, I am enjoying certain aspects of the novel. Just wish I had time to sit down and appreciate it more.

Boring yet entertaining. Annoying yet interesting. I hate this novel, yet I like this novel. What a conundrum.

Joseph Andrews seems to be the most sought after man in all the land! Surrounded by many frivolous bachelorettes, Joseph must remain strong is retaining his virtue.

The writing is unbelievable and I admire Henry Fielding’s ability to author possibly the most idiotic and satirical novel I have ever read. I can only assume that it’s only going to get much crazier from here—which is unbelievably ridiculous.

Finished the first five chapters of Joseph Andrews. I can’t take a single thing serious, especially the names. Lady Tittle and Lady Tattle? Sir Thomas Booby? Oh, and don’t let me forget the legendary Mrs Slipslop!

I feel bad for Esther. I feel bad for everyone in this novel. I hate this novel.

Esther's continuous downfall into madness is interesting yet fairly base line. Her "unusual and unique" ideas only seem to graze the surface. She is deeply flawed, which is enjoyable to read. I hate her, yet at the same time, I find myself having similar thoughts regarding my own future as an English major. I too want to be everything yet do nothing at all.

Her irrecoverable hatred for men is so relatable.

Her writing is truly mesmerizing. Her morals, however, are tucked away in the deepest pits of hell.

This is my first time reading this novel. While everyone is absolutely correct about the good writing and intriguing storyline, no one bothered to share that Sylvia Plath is extremely racist.

honestly…i’m obsessed.

My heart aches for Lily. It seems she never had a fighting chance in the harsh society she had been brought into. It's such a shame that her story has unfolded in this way. Foolishly, I am hoping that it there is a light at the end of the tunnel, however, I am sure there is not.

all she wants to do is gamble and honestly me too.

Lily's mother seemed like such a cruel woman. Her father's death being overshadowed by the fact that he could not provide for the family was deeply disheartening. Despite the novel's somber tones and questionable foreshadowing regarding Lily's fate (death?), I am thoroughly enjoying Edith Wharton's writing. It is whimsical and holds a dazzling spark to it. Very reminiscent of Fanny Fern's, in my amateur opinion.
