i fucking hate fadi, i fucking hate how frustrated this book makes me feel for yara and i fucking hate her perspective even if i understand where it stems from, did i mention i fucking hate fadi??

at this point i‘m just DONE. yes, i know yara‘s a victim and her mum‘s a victim as well, i know that there’s a lot of pain and trauma involved but "maybe you deserved to be beaten after all" is just insane, she‘ll better take that back

not the healthiest relationship with a man in her life being with a gay guy (valid)

i will never be able to understand everything yara is going through but i do understand her in terms of wanting to end it all, feeling hopeless. i feel seen in her thoughts, and i‘m rooting against that.
also i‘m pretty sure her mother has died at the hands of the father? everything seems like it, i just can’t be sure yet

what has happened to her mother, she seemed to radiate light and kindness and it appears that her husband dimmed it all.

irgendwie mag ich dieses buch total gerne obwohl mich beide hauptcharaktäre wirklich in den wahnsinn treiben, aber teils tuen sie das auch weil ich mich in ihnen wieder erkenne

palästina mentioned 🤞🤞 sonst mag ich das buch bisher, ist leichtere lektüre aber macht spaß, der typ fuckt mich ab der soll sich mal jetzt festlegen aber seine mutter hat ihm schon eine ansage gemacht

thoughts before reading "evil eye" by etaf rum:
her first novel, called "a woman is no man", deeply resonated with me and became one of my favourite books til this day.
i am now picking up "evil eye" with a lot of excitement, especially since it’s so important to listen to palestinian voices.
can’t wait to get into the story :)
