Lancelot be getting freaky, and Arthur just got ordered around by the Pope. Things are simultaneously logical and absurd, and I actually am starting to understand don quixote so much more lol — every single character is so goofy and I love it. But like I have no clue why

Lowkey not loving this as much as I thought it would — it’s very loony and drippy in its prose and style, kind of a mix between a destabilizing poet and a Virginia Wolfe ‘narrator becoming the thoughts of the characters’ type thing — and I think it’s something that eventually is going to suck me in and hold me there, but for now im just unimpressed and bored.

Stevens is really really confusing…imagine just poem after poem that you don’t understand unless you take out a pen and start deciphering. It’s occasionally really interesting, and produces some fascinating ideas (and there are some banger lines, and beautiful ones too) but LORD is it exhausting!

One must really pace themselves with this…Stevens is a marathon.

OKAY so this is damn damn good so far, wowza

This is a big moment for me! My first russian novel...I feel so smart. Plus, this book is massive so I feel cool carrying it around.

The first couple of chapters in particular are completely fascinating -- a incredibly interesting narrator that inserts himself into the story, making it read like one big piece of gossip; what im finding mindbendingly accurate dialog.....
