At the beach with my Dick out

Part One - Primeval Night
Very overwritten in both explanations and prose, but I’m actually really digging this. Most people think this explains too much of the monolith but if I separate it from the movie it’s still super fascinating.

Had to check this out because it opens with an essay which is one of my favorites of Dick’s works and it closes with a short story that’s one of Ryan’s favorites of Dick’s works but the first short story was borderline unreadable that I’m not sure I can do this

Fell asleep to the audiobook and woke up while they were on trial for public drunkenness, I was like damn guys I don’t remember what we did last night either

Actually starting to get into this!

Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite characters and I didn’t like what Scott Snyder did with him in the mainline run because I was too protective of him but I really rock with his Mister Freeze in All-Star Batman and Absolute Batman because I can just roll with it

Actually reading the compact edition which is the opposite of the absolute edition but this is much better than I remember

I hate prequels, they always end chapters saying things like “and those two girls were named MAGGIE 😉 and CLARA 😉”

Dune is kind of like the Friday the 13th movies, everytime I dislike one of those movies I convince myself that I actually did like it a few days later and then would watch the next one, and dislike it too

Just about turned off the audiobook when he tried to make it a back door sequel to It 😭 We get it bro we all heard your mixtape

Up in the air if I’ll get into this one but we shall see

LOVING this one, my favorite Tarantino because of how likeable and breathable it is so it makes sense it’s the one that would best translate to a wandering novel

Reading on Libby so I’m not 100% sure how far I am, but I’m definitely digging this a lot more than shadow ticket. Maybe that wasn’t the best to start with

Great description of a dream in this but otherwise sauceless

A little confused on what this is supposed to be; Lonesome Dove was about classic Western heroes at the end of their lives, and was an exploration of purpose in old age. So why is there another book that takes place 20 years later? Is this an exploration of purpose in even older age?
