anne has just met alexis. alexis' biggest crime so far is being a little bit cold. afterwards, main character anne and roommate isabella decide to make fun of alexis for being a "stuck-up bitch" (only based off vibes and assumptions for anne because ANNE HAS JUST ARRIVED) and they proceed to make fun of alexis' front teeth. and i'm supposed to believe alexis is the mean girl and they're the nice sweet girls. ok

lmao austen knew exactly how to portray a self-absorbed mansplain-y dude that loves the sound of his own voice (john thorpe) so much so that it holds up even today. it gave me flashbacks. i applaud.

i'm enjoying this more than i thought i would! could not care less about catherine and henry (as of now) and somehow i'm ten times more invested with whatever the hell is going on with isabella and james

if she dramatically whimpers and moans while eating a fucking pizza or pastry or whatever ONE MORE TIME i'm going to kill myself and then haunt emily henry as a ghost.

i hope you know i'm not devouring books so quickly this 2026 to seek attention but only because after reading the brick that was les miserables everything else feels like a light read

the plot seemed so insanely cool and so fun and somehow the author manages to make it sooooo boring. the main problem is the writing style. the wattpad-y prose hurts everything about this book's potential. it could've been truly great. but noooooooo.

currently having way more fun than i anticipated omg

maybe mixed feelings right now but i am wholly intrigued for the rest. so far i adore inej's character and would probably die for her. kaz is still going to have to grow on me but i'm alright with what i've been fed so far. i'm going to be honest, i'm going in blind and haven't read anything else by the author nor have i watched the show. this will be one hell of a ride. wish me luck?
