okay i initially dnf’d this at 38p but i keep thinking abt it so here we go again

i see why this won the nobel prize (derogatory)

i am *struggling* my guy

the romance tropes in allegedly non-romantasy fantasy are killing me,, i do not want two characters’ sexual tension-fueled love/hate relationship to be the organizing principle of a story instead of a thoughtfully incorporated facet of it

this book is making me feel deep malaise and ennui so i guess it’s a really successful piece of art since that is what it’s about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i just don’t think this is for me :/ it feels much more like a slow burn romance set in a slightly fantastical world than a fantasy book with a romantic subplot. it almost reminds me of s.t. gibson’s Evocation a bit? (which, for the record, i did really enjoy, but i knew upfront it was a romance)(or maybe it’s just the word association, idk)

this might be a DNF, i really do not enjoy the writing style
