Review in progress:

1. A Strange Christmas Game by Charlotte Riddell (1868) - A man inherits a small estate house with a haunting story and locked rooms. A well written fun story, atmospheric and entertaining. Not a chemistry per Dr but the climax happens on Christmas eve. (4/5)

2. The Old Portrait by Hume Nisbet (1896) -

Finished the first part about the parish and now onto the meat of the book entitled "Scenes". Essays are just the right length. Dickens' description brings things to life. I'm enjoying doing a slow read of this. One sketch a day.

The side characters are often returning and I'm enjoying them all, even the rogue Mr. Jingle. The episodes are all linked together for an easy flow. I'm enjoying the slow read a lot.

Reading one chapter a day. Starting Ch 4 today. So far I'm surprised by how funny it is. The humour is still relevant today.

Can't believe I'm getting close to half finished this huge book. My first time diving into Lovecraft besides an odd short story here and there. I'm definately understanding the mythos that appears over and over with each story revealing something new. Not sure I understand chthulu yet, except as a great God.

I'm at 25% and absolutely hooked. I knew nothing going on, just a random book on my Kindle. It's fantastic. I'm hooked on the characters and the odd apartment building they all live in. I like this type of setting. One person has just found out something shocking about the building.

DNF. didn't know it was YA when I started. Too simplistic.

Finally! I have added all my back load of reviews! Now down to a more reasonable rate of one or two a day (or less).
