I am learning bits an pieces about the welfare system, but idk that's it's a book I'd recommend to other people. The target audience seems to be people who don't believe that this level of poverty exists in America. But I was mostly looking for like specific details on the history of welfare, what worked, what failed, and what we can do going forward. This is not that.

“God made us for Joy. Justice and joy, for God, are so intertwined they cannot be separated.” But it is clarified to be very specific that Leviticus instructs a “Year of Jubilee,” where God specifically commands that the community be freed from debt, enslavement, hunger, etc.

Where is THAT energy from Christians, you ask? “There is no evidence that the community followed the Jubilee law.”

Got to the parts about Chicago and Austin.

I'm sitting here wondering if any of the fiction books I've started are gonna get finished in the next four years (unlikely). XD

I waited so long to start this one because I thought it was long- it's only like 300 pages.

Spiritually though, I'm sure it's going to take a while to read.
