I really thought that the labeling of dark enlightenment and its fans as nerds taking out their inability to socialize with normal society out in the rest of us as childish and silly but they quite literally are doing that. Yarvin’s childhood is like a DC villain in the making it’s so pitiful and comical I am laughing.

genuinely a demonic group of individuals. I promise I am not being hyperbolic. this audiobook came in this morning and thought it would be a nice but intense listen for the week but now I can only stomach one hour of this.

this might seem hyperbolic but I strongly dislike this author. I am only finishing this book so I gain rate it 1 star and right a negative review. No passion, no purpose, no feelings, no aesthetics, no meaning, no message. Astoundingly soulless.

This is such a Janet Hong thing for Janet Hong to translate. Anywho, I need to read Korean classics because I am disappointed by the contemporary novels I read more often than not. Or is the essence of a work just lost in translation? There’s just something lacking in most of the korean works I read.

so at around 11:20pm i went to get some water and finish off the last slice of pizza and read one story out of the short story collection I am reading. I said, what the heck, might as well read a few passes of this book and I had to actively stop myself from reading. there is something strangely addictive of the manner it is written and the psychology of this guy.

just reading a few essays per day but this surprising and beautiful. I am uncultured swine and was unfamiliar with her but I had picked this up based on the subject matter. I am so glad to be surprised and delighted but her writing

I am only interested in reading this in full despite knowing it will be at best a three star read because her book signings get bomb threats which is sad and L for Japan.

her being a playright makes so much sense and I have seen enough shamanism in korean movies and television to not be bothered by how she uses and incorporates traditional folk religion into novel's structure.

I love reading each book in this series slowly. I think that is required when novels so aggressively remind you to encounter others with grace and humility. because the series is interconnected but nonlinear, Robinson quite literally nurtures grace and humility within the read. everything we think is true from the last book is not so.

it is really interesting that in an increasingly childless society, there is a concept, if not outright disdain, for women who are and want to become mothers. Kim Jiyoung, 1984 echoes this. I even see this in online american spaces, despite having replacement level fertility. the difference I suppose is that SK actively has fewer children so this kind of behavior DOES come out in real life.

Hard for me to take this book seriously right from the beginning.
