Ouch… I didn’t expect so much pain in just the first section, I’m scared 😨

So many short stories!! I kinda wish some of them were longer now. And while I appreciate the mix of different cultures and peoples, it would be easier to follow along if they were all in order by indigenous group as opposed to hopping around.

The plot has definitely picked up. I sympathize with Abby, and to be completely honest, if my friend was possessed and did what Gretchen did to Abby, I would’ve just let the devil take her Frfr. A good chapter or two did feel a little slow, like filler to an otherwise really thrilling story. I love the campiness of the late 80s setting and the body horror is so gross yet captivating. Almost done!

So far I love the retro vibes. I really enjoy the core group of girls, especially Abby as the main protagonist, a poor girl trying to fit in at a rich private school. It’s clear Gretchen, Abby’s childhood best friend, will be getting possessed by something evil, although from the beginning she has shown signs of having a darkness within her. Overall, I’m loving it!

So far, this book is definitely different from anything I’ve read before. I’ve seen mixed reviews, especially from people my age criticizing David Sedaris for his boomer humor, but it’s so far not bad. It’s definitely entertaining and I’ll see how it goes.

AHHHH! THEYRE ALL SO AMAZING AND IN LOVE! It’s cute. I love seeing people happy, and right now there’s nothing that could possibly go wrong and ruin everyone’s happiness, so I will stop here for today.

Penelope and Shepard have my heart, I just love their side quests and it may honestly be the most interesting plot in the book rn. Simon and Baz are fun but I need them to just get over themselves already, their story is lowkey dragging, but also Simon’s internal struggles are soooo real. More than halfway through the book and I’m just flying through the chapters, I get excited to read more every night <3

They are such a dysfunctional couple, it’s hilarious. Me personally, I would HATE to be in a relationship with either of them fr fr. Simon did not start putting effort into the relationship until book 3 and after he broke up with Baz, while Baz is just so emo and can’t stop putting Simon before himself. Nonetheless, it’s 2 am and I can’t put it down, I love this series so much.

I love it! Scratches my Sci-fi itch and really makes me think.
