Zack Jones is on page 35 of 304 of Dead Man Walking: The Eyewitness Account Of The Death Penalty That Sparked a National Debate
One connotation from Dead Man Walking is when they say "death row." Although it is an actual place in a prison, it is also a connection between life and death. This affects the reader by forcing them to understand the full thoughts and emotions that the prisoners are feeling when in the place. Two other examples could be "The chair." When referring to the electric chair and "victims' families."

The style of this book is formal. The writer is talking in first person, but still seems to be formal. The tone is emotional; the more she talks to the prisoner and connects with him, the more emotion she feels for his situation. The book does not really use that much humor.

The author seems to be credible enough. Her religion largely shapes the beginning of the book as she talks about how her prayers have changed as she gains experience and perspective on life.

I chose this book because it touches on interesting topics that are still relevant today. I want to get the opinion and perspective that this book has to offer on the death penalty.

The Carlisle community has come together after the loss of each student over the years. With each one, we have gotten closer as a community and supported each other through the grief. Whether it is planning events of remembrance or just outright supporting each other, Carlisle has a very strong community.

The song relates to the theme because the song is about how the future is undecided, and anything can happen. The book is about letting people know when they will die, but the future is still undecided. Each character's actions still affect their lives.

I would react the same way that Javi is reacting. Jack is forgetting that Javi is the one with the short string and only has a little time left. Jack has been making it about himself and refusing to talk to his uncle, and the bad things he is saying about short-stringers.

My priorities include keeping friends close, trying my best in school, and enjoying my life. All of which are for the overall purpose of just having fun and enjoying the time I have. I like to do the things I enjoy to balence out the stree of school.

I absolutely believe that short stringers should fight for their rights. After the bombing, they were already starting to turn into a minority group. But after laws were made specifically against them, it got even worse. They should fight for their rights because not everyone with a short string is bad.

I was shocked to say the least. Hank did not believe in Anthony at all and probably would have benefited from his death in a way. However, the doctor in Hank felt the need to save him, it seems. I was honestly not expecting the author to kill off Hank. Lowkey wanted Anthony to die😛

I would not look at my child's box. We have seen throughout the book that the strings are extremely personal. While it is a parent's job to protect their child, opening their box is not your business. If your child ever found out, it could ruin the bond between you and them.

I think Anothny is a very evil character. He is attempting to use his knowledge of his competitors' short strings to get ahead in the election. That alone shows so much about his character and his values in life. We also seen this with him using Jack to get ahead in the election as well.

When Hank finds his short string, he decides not to tell anyone about it and buries his emotions. We see from his conversation with Anieka that he is very sad and has a lot of suppressed emotion. This method of hiding and suppressing the emotions of knowing that your life is almost over is popular among characters in the book. This suggests that Hank is someone who doesn't like to burden others.

I do believe in miracles, but I also think that they are very rare. Miracles only happen when you desperately need them. We don't see them, and they dont get you out of whatever you are in, but they will help you.

If I had a long string, I would definitely not test it. Even if it was true that you were "immortal," you could still feel pain. This reason alone would be enough for me not to test it and just live my life knowing that I will live a long time.

But she feels like she can't help her because of her long string; she can't understand how Maura feels. Ben has joined a support group along with Maura. Finally, Amie decided not to open her box. She stated that she has kept her ability to see the world without worrying about the boxes.

Nina believes in protecting others and the ones she loves. This is seen when she finds out that the strings are real. She quickly starts thinking about everyone she cares about instead of herself. When it comes to Ben, I think he believes in trying. Even after finding out about his short string, he is trying to find other people to support him and is not just giving up.

If I received the box, I think I would be compelled to open it. While I wouldn't want to know how long I had left, I don't think I would be able to stop myself from opening the box and looking at the string. There are both ups and downs to knowing how long you have left. You could plan accordingly by spending more time with family or getting your post-death papers in order. I do think that it would haunt you, though.

In this part of the book, Nana finally reveals what the sophisticated life in the dome was supposed to accomplish. She talks about a man who showed her what she knows. But, she never names him. We know that he had big ideas and even bigger dreams but we don't know what happened to him or anything.

"The hospital was an unnerving place, and I couldn't get comfortable in the bed next to Nana's." This phrase adds to the story by allowing the reader to understand the speaker's situation and uncombtorableness within the hospital.

Some words that set the tone of the story are "affirmative", "with startling success", "metaphysical beings", "that's your quota", and "Is your room arranged to specification." I chose these phrases because they show how strict this family is. This sets the tone and allows us to see the relationship between this family. If the characters responded with yes or something lighter, than it would change the tone.

Ben has been fighting with hos friends because they don't want him to join the military. He has been thinking for a long time about how he needs to give back to his country. This is very interesting to me because we have yet to hear about anything happening to him that would cause him to need to repay. Overall, the book has been slow but it should hopefully get moving soon.

I would say that Jace would align with the candle poem because the girl in it talks about being stressed out because of the things going on in her life. However, the end talks about how the people in her life make it tolerable or even happy.
