Some words that set the tone of the story are "affirmative", "with startling success", "metaphysical beings", "that's your quota", and "Is your room arranged to specification." I chose these phrases because they show how strict this family is. This sets the tone and allows us to see the relationship between this family. If the characters responded with yes or something lighter, than it would change the tone.
