Today in lecture we said Luzhin sees the world as chess, and chess is a game with a winner + loser—in other words, a zero-sum game.

Crazy pull! Someone yelled that term in the middle of lecture and I got flashbacks to my favorite scene ever from Ted Chiang’s short story / the Villeneuve adaptation. Also we literally watched “Incendies” last night. Last night! Patterns everywhere, Nabokov would be thrilled.

Crooked kingdom is SO GOOD 🤤🤤🤤 so I wanna save it lowkey!! Hoping to finish up the S&B trilogy first

Reading Ted Chiang and Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “Braiding Sweetgrass” simultaneously is crazy because I can’t think of two writing styles that are more different yet similarly incredible

The dark, mysterious male lead who has spent the past 450 pages being secretive with the main character despite declaring his love for her….has SECRETS??? Who could have seen this coming??????? 🤦‍♀️
