One surprising part was the flashback to when Reshiminas house got invaded. They went into the house searched the rooms for a cache of weapons that was supposedly hidden in the village. "The Afgan National Army is here to search your house"(27). This was probably very scary for Reshimina because she had no idea what the soldiers were there for

One part that was very surprising was when girls text Max if he ever changes his mind about being gay to text them. This is very surprising considering the girls text him even though he's gay which shows how attractive he must be. "If you ever change your mind...."(241). This shows how people can really get attached to someone and not care what they are attracted to

One fearing part was when the team realized that they were divided and not working together. During a game game the coach accepts and vocalizes it to the team. "You cant succeed at any sport if you feel like your teammates are opponents". This shows how they may not succeed because of their inability to work together as a team

One crucial part was when Max joined Chester Heights basketball team in the middle of the season because he had just moved to town. He was a very good player and gives them a really good chance of now making the playoffs. Steve Holders thoughts on Max joining the team were the folowing "Fellas I think we got ourselves a basketball team"(144). This shows how crucial Max joining the team was for Chester heights.

One surprising part was when Wakefield pushed Alex to the ground on purpose causing him to break his arm. The team was doing a drill and Wakefield got beat by Alex so he pushed him to the ground out of anger. "Wakefield had made no play for the ball. He had just jumped on Alex's back and pushed him to the ground"(75). This shows that even your teammates can turn against you when their anger gets to them.

One Shocking part was when Jonas and Alex had to start on the jv team instead of going straight to varsity. Since Jonas and Alex had played football they missed the basketball tryouts. "I'll start you with the jv's who don't start practice until tomorrow. That way I can see what you can or can't do. This shows how coach doesn't care if they were football stars and that they are treated as equals.

I was very surprised that the capitol released wild dogs into the arena. With only three people left: Katniss, Peeta, and Cato the capital decided to release wild wolfs to attack them. ¨ These things I can see at a distance. Up close, I ´ m sure their more menacing attributes will be revealed. This shows a sense of surprise because their are only 3 people left so why not let them fight instead of the animals.

One very sad part was when rue died. She gets killed after a spear is thrown into her body. ¨She just has time to reach her hand through the mesh and say my name before the spear enters her body¨(232). This shows the sadness and pain of her death as there was a spear in her body.

One important part of the book was when Katniss became alliances with Rue. When she sees Rue she thinks it would be a good idea to team up with her. ¨You know their not the only ones who can have alliances¨(200). This could be huge for Katniss to have someone else by her side to help her and give her additional information and skills.

I was very shocked and surprised when Peeta had gained an alliance with a few of the other tributes. When Katniss hears Peeta saying that he is going back to see if the girl is dead she was so shocked. "Were're wasting time! I'll go finish her and then lets move on! I almost fall out of the tree . The voice belongs to Peeta"(160). This shows a betrayal from Peeta in Katniss point of view becuase he isnt with her.

One shocking part of the book was when Katniss got an 11/12 for her private lesson. She had felt like she was not getting enough attention so she shot an arrow at the gamemakers to get attention. ¨Without thinking I pull an arrow and send it straight to the gamemakers table¨. It was very crazy that she shot an arrow at the gamemakers table be even more crazy that she received a good score from that.

One shocking part was when Primose got voted even though her name is only put in once. In this book the twelve districts draft one boy and one girl each randomly to participate in the Hunger games. It is Katniss little sisters first year which means her name is put in once compared to Katniss which is 42 times which is why is was so shocking that Primose got selected.

One important part is when he got a bad jacket. He gets a new ugly jacket that he doesn't like and didn't fit the description of what he asked for. He didn't like it because it was too big and an ugly color. ¨I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and big¨ (pg 3). He does not like the jacket, he wanted to get rid of it so badly.
