my third clarice lispector. she's my religion.

Picked this book up based on intuition, as per usual, but ohmygod it's hitting way way too close to home. I can see some parallelism to what happened to my Lola this time last year. What are the odds? Haaaay. Walang nakakaiyak, pero gusto kong umiyak. Anyway, my second Simone de Beauvoir, not even half way through, I know it's a five star read ! ⭐️

This time last year, I was reading a similar book—Untold Night and Day by Bae Suah—abt reality & dream blurring, manifesting like deja vu. Will nvr forget it cuz during that time, my belief in reality was blurring too when my Lola suddenly couldn't wake up. I was in the state wherein I wanted to make myself believe it was all just a bad dream; that evrytime I wake up from that day onwards, nothing's real anymore.

i appreciate mcduff's translation more than garnett. easier to digest though lacking the poetic sense that i usually like in my readings hehe. also deeply grateful for the footnotes for added context. im just going back and forth depending on the mood.

[fave chapter so far: so be it! so be it!] so many things to ponder re: separation (or not) of state and church. while i do get where ivan is coming from, it seems a bit dangerous and too total. miusov has the right to condradict and fear ivan's ideology. i (kind of) side with zossima (even though i dont like priests lol).
