Sometimes I read collections of essays and they don't really connect to each other, and they don't have to necessarily. Here I noticed that a lot of care has been taken to the order in witch each text appears for maximum impact, the reader can develop their understanding of the media critiques by hooks and each of her arguments builds upon our understanding from what was read before. I really like that

I remember why I ate up this book as a pre-teen but on god.. this romance is so boring... though the teenage angst is what I remember it being

I really love this essay, its very short and to the point. Its about how (in this example) feminist women must interrogate their sexual desires within the patriarchy and come to terms with the sexually attractive parts of masculinity are largely learned from the patriarchy. I thought I'm immune to wanting to be desired in a patriarchal masculine way but apparently not lol. Much to learn

I love how dumb every character . Jacob says "the Cullens are vampires," Bella immediately believes him and decides to confront Edward immediately. Every day I think about how funny it would be if they weren't vampires and honest to god were just fucking with Bella for fun (this makes the incest worse but also funnier)

I haven't read a ya book in 10 years, is this boring/bad writing or is for a younger reader, much to think about

omdat ik aan het leren ben niewe worden, ik ook nu maak (slechte) grappen. vandag ik en mijn vriendin lachten over dit:
(linkin park voice) "KRUIPEND OP MIJN HUID, DEZE WONDEN NIET ZULLEN HELEN"

At page 306 I got so disappointed, maybe its because I've read/watched interview with a vampire or dowry of blood, or because suddenly the book became a narrative within a narrative, but it unstuck. I want to know how it ends but there is a nagging feeling that I've read and will read better vampire novels, better historical novels, better character dramas with more interesting prose and structure...
