Okayyyy so every review I’ve seen has said after 400 pages the tone shifts dramatically and the story picks up intensely so starting this book I was waiting for this moment (at first) but in all honesty, whilst it is a slow burn, phenomenal so far nonetheless so if it gets even better I’m so here for it!

Someone said this is like one piece but for historical fiction and I’m seeing it! Really enjoying the really human chapters, seeing the dynamic between Newt, Lorena, Augustus and Jake alongside the Mexico chapter is really carrying the slower pace of the book so far. Historical fiction is definitely my favourite genre!

Been in a reading slump and seen my brother Flo reading Crime and Punishment while my copy of The Brothers Karamazov has been collecting dust so I thought let’s break the slump by reading what people call the best novel of all time :) and then double back to The Road!
