Yep - why wouldn’t you kill off my favourite character? I mean the perfect death in every away and the epitome of everything the character represented, but still, why him?? 😫

Okayyyy so every review I’ve seen has said after 400 pages the tone shifts dramatically and the story picks up intensely so starting this book I was waiting for this moment (at first) but in all honesty, whilst it is a slow burn, phenomenal so far nonetheless so if it gets even better I’m so here for it!

Someone said this is like one piece but for historical fiction and I’m seeing it! Really enjoying the really human chapters, seeing the dynamic between Newt, Lorena, Augustus and Jake alongside the Mexico chapter is really carrying the slower pace of the book so far. Historical fiction is definitely my favourite genre!
