TOO LONG. Could easily cut 400 pages without losing anything. How many times do I need to be reminded that the concrete is “enzyme-bonded”? Makes what would be a 4-5 star space opera decidedly mid-tier.

Industrial Revolution setting, fantasy caper. Magic system founded on inscribed codes that shape reality. Not super original but well done. Compelling underdog hero and band of misfits go on a caper. Nothing super new but all really fun and well done. A little too much revealed toward the end imo, limits excitement for rest of series.
