Jesus fucking CHRIST we can’t go one chapter without a hate crime. Not even a page into the final chapter and Heinlein refers to an Indigenous American as looking “just as harmless as his scalp-hunting ancestors” I’m so glad Heinlein is dead.

I didn't think the movie would be a perfect adaptation of the book and god I hate how right I am about it. This book is a fucking *slog* with all of the procedure I've had to sit through. It's just a bunch of "yes sir" and "no sir" and wandering around. Could have called this "Space Boot Camp" and it would be a more accurate title than "Starship Troopers"

Fun Fact: Did you know that Starship Troopers is narrated by Richard Reed, who also did narration for a bunch of the Warhammer books?

What is this, the sixth time Heinlein has gone off about how women are only in the military to be pretty, motivate the "ACTUAL" soldiers, and fly planes because they're "biologically" more graceful and spacially aware than men?

"Why not make military service something everyone has to do and then give everyone the right to vote instead of having people volunteer for service?" My brother in Christ there are so many people signing up for the military for citizenship rights already that the military has to *make up jobs* and ways to get people to quit before they ship out, That Is Already The State Of Things.

3/5ths of the way through this book and only now are we starting to get the paper-thin reasons as to why Citizenship is such a MASSIVE goal that the military has started to make up bullshit jobs to accommodate the amount of sign-ups they get.

Heinlein then proceeded to describe the power suits for a second time for the better part of five minutes.

Heinlein keeps mentioning things in the world off-hand and never really explaining what they are. I can guess what the Powered Suits are doing, as they've been explained twice now, but I'm intrigued by the K-9 Units and how they seem to function.

Hard to tell if satire or if Heinlein is just weird about women and Asian people (some combination of both...?)
