I remember learning of many real life celebrities who have changed their names to appear more white or so that it rolls off the tongue better. Erasing parts of their identity(truths)are just some of the tactics people have unfortunately had to use to make their way in this Hollywood world, as Evelyn said. Multiple times she states she did what she had to do, and she does not regret it, although she may feel sorry.
