As is tradition with Roger Zelazny's books and me starting them, I have no idea what is going on. It reads a little like Stephen King's The Stand, but that may be the structure of the story in twos. I am as always intruiged to continue on The Road...

This part will never get any easier. Dumbledore begging Severus Snape to deliver him from the pain. R.I.P. my love.

This is torture. Dumbledore doesn't deserve this.

Did I mention how much I love Dumbledore? The horcruxes story is as always fascinating... and maybe this part should have been titled Harry Potter and Dumbledore's Secrets. So far we have seen so very little of Severus Snape.

I genuinely forgot that Rufus Scrimgeour was a vampire. How cute that they cast Bill Nighy for that role, since he portrayed Viktor in the Underworld movies. <3

And yes, I love the precious halfblood Prince. Can't help but picture Alan Rickman's Severus Snape whenever they are talking about him resp. their D.A.D.A. teacher. ;)

The story is dragging its magical feet a little...

I love Dumbledore so much. And just want him to be wrapped in a warm blanket, beside his fire and all the thick, woolen socks he desires. It breaks my heart to have him described as tired and in pain.

The power of the media. Finally something interessting for me. Too bad I have work tomorrow and need some sleep now.

After the teenager-ness and Dumbledore-lessness that was book 5, I am happy to follow a more adult plot with lots of reasons to love Dumbledore.

OMG why is book so boring? It is less a thriller and more a portrait of the tediousness of an investigation...

This book is so much better than I would have thought... Whimsical, yet suspenseful and very, very much for introverted, bookloving people.

I just decided to soft-dnf this book, because it is so unbelievably boring.

A lot of abbrevations, walking around and questioning people... Not your typical high action Michael Crichton thriller.

Maybe the combination with a Michael Crichton book, is what makes this book so boring? But there are literally NO stakes!

Maybe it is me, but I am just not feeling this book. This new Mystery Mansion is kinda lame.

The ending was a little sudden, and the epilogue lost me, otherwise this book is superb.

Computers are better than people.

This reads a lot like a middle grade version of The Starless Sea, with a depressed twelve-year old who wants nothing more than to be with the stars and be loved. Very moving and beautiful.... and relatable.

So far a classic middle grade haunted house book in the style of R.L. Stine and a love letter to octobers.

I really wish we had more chapters from Fenton Haddock's POV. He is such an interessting villain / psychopath.

This book gives me Stephen King and Twin Peaks vibes. It is deliciously creepy and I hope we see more of Harry and John. Their dynamic reminds me a lot of Coop and Harry from Twin Peaks.

I think I am in a reading slump... but the book is good and I am loving the creepy twists so far.

Dark Academia is probably just not for me. - This book is so unbelivable boring. Nothing happens, only intellectual yapping... and when I decides to skim the rest, I really really hated the last few pages. A dnf for me and will not pick up another book by the author.

My first R.F. Kuang and I like the book so far. It reads a little dry, but is very informative. And I am sure Prof. Grimes would have gotten along well with the Wizards of Unseen University.

It really does read like Sabrina The Teenage Witch set in Stars Hollow and I have vivid pictures of both tv shows in my mind while reading it. Selda as Izzy, Hilda as Norma, Beatty as Willard Kraft, Miss Patty as Roxie... yada yada

The mystery is slow in resolving itself and the event I have been waiting for has finally occured. And I do think that this book will end up 4 stars, yet I am tempted to add one more for I'll have finished the book and that is an achievement in itself...

Kudos for the anxiety rep. I feel seen!
And the slow-burn enemies to lovers is very well done and the setting is marvelous. Wild. Free. Beautiful. I want to keep reading...
