Only 22 pages in and I’m already so impressed with the writing and enthralled with Luzia’s character.

She’s a very admirable character, even with the abuse she’s facing and her circumstances she still holds such pure empathy. So strong, I love her. I love Bardugo’s writing.

Will definitely read more soon, especially on the plane to Florida!

Beautiful beautiful.. I don’t even know how to describe the love I have for this novel. I adore full circle realizations—like how this book could be a story being told by Widget all along. I’m so happy Celia and Marco found a way to be together. I hope Isobel will be okay, she’s strong. Friedrick got his acknowledgement! And I’m just so content with the fate of the circus living on. And Isobel, deserved so much better, but I am glad Marco finally told her the truth so she’s no longer being reduced to such insignificance. Because she isn’t insignificant.

I knew it. I knew the competition was more complicated than it sounded, especially when Marco and Celia began to fall in love. So I’m preparing my tissues as I write this.

I’ll miss you Friedrick.

Ahhhhh!! Celia and Marco are just sooo romantic together, the most beautiful 21 pages I’ve read of hinted romance.

This is why I love when romance isn’t the main priority of the novel, makes it all the more exciting and magnetic.

But seriously Marco, please free Isobel. Stop leading her on.

I truly don’t want to finish reading this book. Everyone’s stories will be dearly missed when I turn the last page.

God I love this book. I’m just so infatuated with the scene setting. Every chapter regardless of what’s occurring I can truly feel myself able to envision it in my head as if I were watching a movie.

Amazing imagery and descriptive storytelling.

But ughh poor Isobel.. can we give my girl a better hand please? I won’t lie, I like Celia and Marco so far, but he’s kind of wrong for not respecting Isobel.

I love love love love the mood of this book so much.

I love Celia, she’s so enthralling and she 1000% ate up the interview scene in the theater.

Really hope Isobel leaves Marco, not in the mood for a jealousy and heartbreak plot.. Tired of women being turned into each other’s competition. I want to root for Marco and Celia, but not at the cost of Isobel.

Can’t wait for Prospero the pendejo’s downfall.

Yeah I already know Effy and Preston are going to have issues…

But I’m so intrigued by Preston’s connection to this dream world and like how all of it fits together, I think the story is bigger than just their budding relationship problems. Although, that doesn’t make it unimportant.

Lowkey hardly remember anything from the first book…but it’s slowly coming together the more I read of this one.

Ugh, I’ve missed Reid’s writing so much, it’s so lyrical and descriptive. And the heavy academic voice really comes through in a book that isn’t just “performatively academic” (lmao), but meant to teach us something. I like it so far! Plus, Effy and Preston.

I’m listening to the audiobook because I struggle to focus on the words whenever I try reading the book for some reason. I think it’s because I’m getting used to reading books that are a little more complicated the older I get, and HoO is targeted towards younger audiences, like kids.

And the narrator is doing a great job don’t get me wrong but Hazel’s accent and Nico’s voice took me off guard—

Oh my goddddd Francesca is getting on my nerves so unbelievably much. The last few chapters all she’s done is whimper and stutter and whisper “Michael” again and again like GIRL where was the witty, intelligent and sure woman from the beginning??

Like I’m actually befuddled. She’s completely changed her entire character personality. All because she’s sleeping with Michael now..

These two are giving me anxiety.

This book has me in a chokehold

Matthias can’t actually be dead. There’s still like so many pages left in the book, so most definitely something is going to happen and he’s going to be saved.

That has to be it.

I’m actually so scared for how this book is going to end based on where we are now. Something is just giving me a bad feeling in my gut, maybe it’s Christopher’s ignorance of the bigger world and how he’s just throwing himself out there anyway?

I don’t know, I’m just worried. Please God don’t let this end with his father finding his body, just like in the start when Christopher found Wellington…

I literally had no inkling about any of this so like I said my mind is blown. Haddon knows how to write unexpected twists.

I know it’s not meant to be funny but every time Christopher just walks away mid conversation just because he wants to, I laugh
