So far this book is about sex clubs and not gay bars.

Gay bars were amazing places about community. I pity the author if he really doesn’t know the difference.

This book is 50% defensive posturing.

Makes for a tedious read.

Jesus I hope: 1) that the staccato writing style of the first part of the book is intentional to reflect the author’s addled brain and it becomes more fluid when he eventually gets off drugs; and 2) I wish he’d get to the point where he gets off drugs because this book is really too focused on the high and not on the repercussions.

Ted W is on page 19 of 221 of Walt Whitman: An Interpretation in Narrative: A Biography & Critical Analysis
This book is almost unreadable.

It was written in 1926 and uses such contrived and affected phrasing that it is actually difficult to glean the meaning.

It also violates basic writing rules: in the paragraph I'm currently reading the author references "Scott" out of no where and assumes the reader would know who that is. Perhaps they would have in 1926. In 2024 not so much.
