Finished book 3 of the trilogy: Hereticus. Final rating: 4/5. A little upsetting that it took till the last book in the trilogy to actually start having some genuine stakes and interesting character development. This book is very brutal and the fight scenes feel significantly more dialed up. I also love how much grey area Eisenhorn gets involved in with utilizing chaos for the great good it’s by far the best part.

Finished book 2: Malleus. Final score: 3.5/5 only marginally better than Xenos. The characters are getting more fleshed out, and the set pieces are a bit more exciting, but the pacing is still incredibly rough in my opinion and conflicts are resolved almost as fast as they are set up. Makes the reading experience very jarring.

Finished book one of the main trilogy: Xenos. Overall rating I would say a 3/5. Took me a good long while to get interested in any of the characters and I didn’t really feel like they started to show their color until the final 10 chapters. There are some fun set pieces here and the detective portions of the story are the best, but generally I felt like there were basic villains and simple plot mcguffins about.
