Praying library holds move fast so I can read The Tainted Cup (and sequels) because that has really caught my interest more than I thought it would

OH it’s just my favorite scene it’s so good. All of the best parts of the book condensed into like 8 minutes of pure perfection. I still think the fire night is The Best Scene but this is so my favorite

so far i am not particularly pleased with the actual symbol discussion in this book, it's extremely lacking. why am i not getting more of the history of these symbols. at this point it just feels like any other witchcraft flavored book with a wiccan bent i don't have the patience for

The speed with which Dante decides “actually i will refuse the offer for more power if it means leaving Blays behind” gets me every fucking time. And then he kills that man. Bonded pair do not separate

Blays Buckler the boy that you are. What a fantastic character, and he does only get better

There are not words enough for how much I absolutely adore Dante and Blays. I am impressed every time how quickly and naturally their relationship is established and how hard I believe it. Those funky little guys really took one look at each other completely alone in the world and said “is anyone gonna be this loser’s best friend,” didn’t wait for an answer, and tripped headlong into being platonic soulmates

the beginning of this series really is so charming, no wonder i was hooked from the beginning. and i doubly appreciate how ready Dante is to throw out any semblance of morals he may or may not have had once he realizes he can Go Places in life if he just doesn't have any

God the kitchen scene is just one of my favorites forever. There is so much going unsaid that gets screamed through body language

Ooooo lots of screaming crying throwing up. Sam as sanctuary, Riley as caretaker. Deaddie domming Andrew from the afterlife. It’s great

Evander and Laurie at least have decent chemistry when they’re on page together

I just wanna know where we’re going with this. I fear I have been spoiled by the likes of Summer Sons and The Red Winter because the craft in those is so off the shits fantastic that I never even thought “where are we going with this.” And this book doesn’t have anywhere *near* the vibes or aesthetic pull of The Archive Undying to make me not care where we’re going and just be happily along for the ride

oof the writing is uhhh a little clunkier than i remember it being back when i first read the preview

Fine! Fine. You win. I’m sold. I am feeling things. I have gotten over the YA of it all and I am feeling things. That maybe has something to do with how very suddenly not YA this feels (but in a different way than All For the Game somehow)

*god* the conversation with Del is so fucked. I am so sorry you are the only person who didn’t know Andrew. At least Sam is here to do what he does and fix things as best he knows how (<- things I’m normal about)

Oh that was fast. I know it’s like halfway through the book but it feels really fast

Okay I’m not a coward so I’ll say it: Sam’s WRX is an absolute wet dream of a car. I am unfathomably jealous and I’d sell my soul to have it. That doesn’t *not* impact how that whole driving scene makes me feel but it’s also not all of it, mostly it just aches cuz I miss it, I miss that feeling and it’s captured so well here

At least this book reads fast, it’s not like Summer Sons where I can’t read more than 20 pages a day without needing to pause and digest the emotions

The glimpses of this book that I see that are good are So Good but most of it is just not working for me and I’m not sure anyone is more disappointed in that than I am

Troth really is fucking vile and I hate that I’m saying that instead of how Riley actually made me giggle out loud in chapter 15

I feel like I’m being repeatedly slapped but like not in the profound way or anything I’m just bewildered

What. What. What is happening here. What is the format of this book. How many fucking POVs can you cram into this few pages????? Like I don’t like multiple POVs on a good day but there are some books (The Archive Undying, The King’s Messenger, The Black Star, the Nightrunner books etc) that do it to such great effectiveness that I’m won over. This does Not feel like it’s going to be that

New plan, this will be my at home book this weekend cuz I only have it as a physical book and I can read The Wolf and His King at work if need be
