CW for review: If you can't handle animal cruelty, skip the last page of Chapter 13 and maybe all of Chapter 14. It's a horrifying occurrence, but not described with any gruesomeness. But I think it's also safely skipped without affecting the story.

I do enjoy hanging out with Midnight Louie.

Please be as fun as the first two books in this series.

Hallelujah, I'm done! This book was so slow-paced that I had time to figure out the whole murder plot before anyone was even killed. Then I finished the book to see if I was right. And I was. [Takes a bow]

Finally, someone is dead! I was starting to feel like a ghoul waiting for it. But the story remains as blah as ever. I'll finish it to give a fair review, but this thing is drudgery.

This book should be 100 pages shorter. I figured that once all the potential suspects were introduced Things Would Start Happening, but instead this is dragging along with a lot of bloat and no tension or suspense. Eleanor and those dumb footnotes are both a lot less entertaining than the author seems to believe.

Now that I've accepted the tortured, ridiculous set-up -- because none of these people would be spending any time together under circumstances in real life -- I'm enjoying the fluffy easy flow, even with the gazillion footnotes that aren't adding much to the story. But it is starting to feel like someone should die already ...

This is a quick easy read, with a nice light tone. But I'm having trouble suspending disbelief about a few things. First of all, the whole premise of getting stuck with an extortionist jerk for ten years because Eleanor insisted on using his real name in a rather bogus "novel." And second, Eleanor didn't even read her sister's novel before submitting it to her editor??? I'm not sure I like Eleanor much.

So far, so entertaining.

Wow, the ugliness the Frenches get turned on them after they go Never Trump is astounding and terrifying. I give them big credit for handling as gracefully as they have.

Whoa, this book has so much traumatic material. It's really well-written and flows so I keep reading, but it's also giving me anxiety.

I came across a review for this and it intrigued me. And for a memoir that covers a good chunk of time, it's nice and short -- don't judge a book by its cover, judge it by its thickness! :-D

This is really good. So many interesting people and possibilities.

Nearly 100 pages in and still no body. But I am enjoying the 1920's Bollywood film background.

I'm wondering if maybe I should have started this series from the beginning. But this is very good so far and seems to be filling in any important details I missed about Perveen's life.

I think I may be too classically uneducated for this book. But I'm willing to take on the challenge, at least for a while.

Total stab in the dark, but I'm wondering if Sam will end up wishing for Daphne to become mortal (and decently good). After two wishes, it's clear that Hannah is a waste of time, no matter how cute she is. I don't think even a former demon would be a worse girlfriend.

Who can resist that cover?
The way the wishes are granted is maybe a little over the top, but they are definitely demonically devious.

This is moving quickly, and has depth I was not expecting. The moments of Mikey missing his mother are really getting to me. And the way he keeps a figurative arm extended to maintain distance from any authentic relationships feels believable. The mystery clues are a bit contrived, but I'm enjoying this enough not to feel critical about that.

I almost chucked this at the beginning because the third person-present tense writing style felt really clunky, but now I'm used to it and the story is turning into an enjoyable mix of tense and silly.

What's with making it so Goodreads members can't message each other directly? The ability to do that has been one of my favorite features. Does anyone know why that would be taken away from us?

Is anyone else having trouble adding books to their Currently Reading shelf? I've tried multiple times today and nothing happens!

I love Samantha's voice. And I'm also fond of bugs and vultures. And you can't go wrong with T. Kingfisher, right? I thought it might be fun to read something creepy for October, but I keep worrying that this is going to turn too scary for me.

Is there a timeslip happening here?

I was stuck at a doctor's office and so glad I had a good book to read! I'm far enough in that now I really want to see how these two timelines will intersect.

This is entertaining enough that I keep reading. But Harsha kind of lacks personality and is just a little bit mean to Veer -- not intentionally, I don't think, but it's still a bit off-putting. Veer at least has more of a sense of humor so his POVs are a little more enjoyable.

Hmmm. I'm not sure about this heroine and her willingness to lie to people, no matter what she sees as pressure from her family. I'll see if this grows on me.

Wow, somebody really has it in for Nura and her dating service. I wasn't expecting quite such serious sabotage.
