Having a little bit of a hard time keeping up with who is who. There are so many figures involved, but the horrific acts detailed in this account of Colombia's history are hard to hear much less imagine.

This is the kind of book that leaves me in awe of existing at a time when writers like this also exist and write everything I need to hear about love, loss, and life 💔❤️

Every Haidt book is better than the last, I feel I have to personally thank him for bringing me back to my college lecture halls with so much mention of Durkheimian theory, I'm so here for it 👏

Omgggg I hate every adult in this book. Even the supposed "good ones" can people stop trying to teach this poor traumatized 11 year old a lesson and just love and accept him already???? Like why is it so hard in every American authored book to write love and acceptance??? Especially for kids. Like are we serious? I cannot with this place.

I love a book that can get at the big questions via everyday conversations. For me, that's a great read.

If I wasn't aware of the ludicrously hideous actions and intentions of Facebook before, boy am I now. One of the more disturbing aspects for me personally is having been on dates with men like Joel Kaplan in DC. Those Deloitte frat bro's don't fuck around when it comes to sexual assault and harassment. Ethics, meh. But harassing women is a full time job, isn't it? 🤢🤢🤮🤮

There's no real story here, but I like it anyway. I love how contemporary fiction is just vibes. It's just a bunch of one off situations that are odd but relatable.

This is wildly insightful. I love hearing about what those at the Harlem cultural event said about the moon landing in '69. This professor does an incredible job drawing a line through history from that moment to the modern day space race and it's connection to race issues.

Ooh this is going to up there in my top best, I can tell already. It's so good and so relatable fortunately and unfortunately.

We don't buy a puzzle to look at the box, we buy it to do it. The point of art is making it. It's the doing that is the point.

Also, the fact that this book so clearly references Charlotte's Web, specifically the fair scene with Templeton the rat who basks in the glory of discarded food and trash at the county fair... you can tell me whatever you want but when they talk about rats in this book, my brain is there with Templeton with his chewed corn cobs and used cotton candy. And I feel I must thank the author personally for that visual.
