Favorite chapter so far (just ahead of the green man one).

An aside, the paragraph about walnut etymology reads like a Casey Rocket bit/riff.

More good prose about ecology (dead wood/cwd).

This book is going a bit of a different direction than where it started. Not unenjoyable but a bit disorienting.

Very good nature writing. I think I was expecting something else, but this is enjoyable.

Fun little chapter about moths.

That was a good chapter. I think it’s unfortunate how simplistic people view ecology and this chapter (with the writing about the buttercup and the pony corrals) was a beautiful exposition about how ecology truly operates.
