The further I get into this collection, the more convinced I am in my fervent belief that Atwood really should be awarded the Nobel prize !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She’s written more than 50 texts/works of different kinds, some of it absolutely instrumental and genre-defining, and the latter half (which is massive, btw) of specifically her poetic work *literally never misses*

Nope. Nope nope nope. The writing style is absolutely grating and simply *telling* me too much ://
Maybe I’ll get back to it in a couple months, years, for another try. But as much as I’m vaguely interested in the story, that’s all squandered rn by the writing being both too plain and too opaque :((((

I’ll probably get into this some other time (I only just started) but this is not that time. Considering I normally don’t love short stories anyway, only the rare occasional thing, I’m not surprised but also kind of surprised at how not-interested I am … not for the concepts / themes sake, just the thought of a short story collection rn is off-putting.

This was just not my style, neither writing nor focus of the story (so far). Too bare, too simplistic, too impersonal, and yet not enough of the actual ’sci fi’ part which could make up for it. Idk, someone else will have to read this and love it. It’s not gonna be me.
