I love all the many sub plots in this book, but my favourite is the often militant rivalry between different groups arguing over who *really* wrote Shakespeare. (And this is from someone (me) who hates those theories IRL)

I'm behind on my work today and I blame this book!

Apparently theres a relic of St. Thomas Beckett in Taunton Museum... That's another reason to go back there!

Damn this book is very readable! I just wish I wasn't so busy!

Turns out Clifton is bloody fascinating, oldest war memorial in the country, potential last known location of Jack the Ripper, and home of a lady who inspired Thomas Telford and IKB!

Very much enjoying so far! Chaotic and so many things going on and references made and yet still it manages to pull me into the plot

I do not trust the sense of humour of anyone who does not find Pratchett funny!

I'm just reading this one on and off between other books, hence the slow progress despite it being an easy and entertaining read!

Well this is a bloody good page turner! If I didn't have to be reading history books for my studies I'd just be sat reading this all day!

I love Atwood's writing and I love dystopian fiction and I love post apocalyptic fiction... So, a lot to love here! This is the book which is pulling me out of my little reading slump which I got in (Thanks to Beckie for suggesting this one!)

I started re-reading this as my festival book this year, now I'm focusing on it a bit more as it's one of my favourite Discworld books. The fact it was the first one I ever read gives it a special place in my heart!

Again, another gem of a book when it comes to getting overviews about the history of Somerset, the bit about the Battle of Sedgemoor Bloody Assizes was especially interesting so far. It's something I'll have to research in more detail (a visit to the museum of Somerset in Taunton is in order I think!)

Short but proving very useful for my tour guide course!

After reading a long book I didn't particularly enjoy, I felt I should read a short book by one of my favourite authors to balance it out!

I bloody hate Jamie Fraser, honestly he's a petulant child and I really don't understand how anyone roots for him as a romantic lead! Claire is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome and honestly they're insanely toxic for one another. Getting tired of historical & cultural inaccuracies when there is so much that has clearly been well researched! She has referred to a man as "nic Leodhas" which is daughter of Leodhas...

Finding this slightly less romantic now that domestic abuse has been brought into play. Will take a lot more to win me over to the romance now...

Very unexpected cameo appearance there in chapter 19... IYKYK

Finding this surprisingly readable, I wasn't sure it would be my thing but I do like historical fiction (even if I do notice historical inacuracies (mentions of specific clan tartans which wouldn't have existed until much later for example)) and Americanisms from a British woman (plaid rather than tartan) but still, an easy book to read!

I thought it was about time I read the book that essentially pays my living!

I love the history of coffee and the different ways it is drunk around the world and throughout history, also how coffee shops have evolved over time. So, I am a little disappointed that these guys have just made Starbucks...

Easy read, though I got thinking about how actually in many countries in the world coffee is an evening/night time drink, especially those countries which adopted it earlier but also in places like the UK when it was first introduced. It meant you could stay up late working and debating into the night! The characters have gone for the US model which is much more recent

I fancied something light and I also fancied a coffee so this was my choice!

I'm actually nearly finished, my ereader just gets confused by non fiction books. Anyway the point I came to make is that the racism spouted about black people in the 1700s sounds EXACTLY like Reform supporters today... Scary, disgusting and depressing

Definitely learning a lot, and this is very well written, I just read so slowly when I'm on tour and exhausted all the time!

I've had this on my ereader for a while after hearing about it on the You're Dead to Me podcast with Greg Jenner and also on the podcast Empire with Anita Anand and William Dalrymple. I have chosen to read it now because I am studying for a tour guide qualification and also the cover! I have recently seen the actual picture of Dido Belle (and Elizabeth Murray who isn't on the cover) in Scone Palace in Scotland!

I finished another walk in this book the other day, but then got distracted by the Clifton Suspention Bridge Museum and the fact that you can book tours in the vaults under the bridge! Anyone want to come with me?!

I think I would have read this much faster had I not been so busy recently since last night I stayed and binged a quarter of the book despite being exhausted! I'll probably finish tonight

Page by page this gets darker and I'm here for it!
